Amazon now sells many over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aids, from very cheap in-ear models to app-controlled, self-fitting devices from established audio brands. That range is useful, but it also makes choosing hard. In this guide we compare five popular OTC hearing aids on Amazon: the Audien Atom One, Audien Atom Pro 2, ELEHEAR Beyond, Sennheiser All-Day Clear and Jabra Enhance Select M2. We explain who each one suits and what to check before you buy.
How we made this list: we have not tested these devices hands-on. We compared manufacturer specifications, Amazon product listings (checked October 16, 2026) and FDA guidance. Sources are listed at the end. We deliberately avoid quoting exact prices because they change frequently on Amazon. Use the buttons to see the current price.

First: are OTC hearing aids right for you?
The FDA’s OTC hearing aid rule took effect on October 17, 2022. It created a category of hearing aids that adults 18 and older with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss can buy in stores or online without a prescription, exam or professional fitting (FDA). The FDA describes two broad types:
- Basic OTC aids with volume control and preset programs, like both Audien models here.
- Self-fitting OTC aids, which use a hearing test or app to customize sound, like the ELEHEAR, Sennheiser and Jabra models here.
OTC aids have limited maximum output and are not meant for severe or profound hearing loss. The FDA advises seeing a doctor, preferably an ENT, first if you have sudden or fluctuating hearing changes, hearing loss or ringing in only one ear, ear pain or drainage, heavy earwax, or dizziness. The FDA also notes that labels like “FDA registered” are not the same as FDA clearance or approval. Some brands below say they are “FDA-cleared” self-fitting devices, while others say “FDA registered.”

1. Audien Atom One: lowest-cost starter
The Atom One is Audien’s most basic hearing aid. It was listed as an Amazon #1 Best Seller in its category when we checked on October 16, 2026. According to Audien, it is a tiny, rechargeable in-ear aid with up to 24 hours of battery life, an adjustable frequency setting so you can emphasize lower or higher pitches, and no app or hearing test required. It works straight out of the box.
Trade-offs: adjustments use small physical dials. Independent reviewers such as the NCOA note it lacks background noise reduction, multiple modes and Bluetooth. Expect it to struggle most in noisy restaurants.
Best for: adults with mild hearing difficulty who want the cheapest sensible way to try a hearing aid, mostly in quiet settings.

What buyers say: Audien Atom One
- +Valued as a very low-cost, lightweight way to get more volume, and some like that the dial settings stay put once set.
- –Whistling (feedback) when inserting the aids or with a loose fit is a frequent complaint.
- –The tiny screwdriver-adjusted dial is fiddly for people with arthritis or limited dexterity.
- –Amplification is basic: background hiss and noisy rooms are common weak points.

2. Audien Atom Pro 2: simple, no-app upgrade
The Atom Pro 2 adds four listening modes (conversation, restaurant, TV, outdoor), background noise and feedback reduction, and a charging case that Audien says UV-sanitizes the aids. Like the Atom One, there is no app to learn. Audien states charging takes about 4–6 hours. Read our full Audien Atom Pro 2 review.
Trade-offs: preset modes rather than personalized fitting, and some marketing claims on Audien’s site are unsourced.
Best for: people who want more help in noise than the Atom One provides, without using a smartphone.

What buyers say: Audien Atom Pro 2
- +Many like the simple, no-app operation and the small in-ear size, and the battery life and UV charging case get frequent praise.
- –Fit is the most common complaint: some find the domes too big or uncomfortable, and a poor seal can lead to whistling.
- –Some report a unit that stops working or won’t hold a charge after a few weeks, and mixed experiences with returns and support.
- –Expert reviewers note speech clarity in noisy places trails pricier models, and there’s no Bluetooth.

3. ELEHEAR Beyond: feature-packed mid-range
ELEHEAR describes the Beyond as an OTC hearing aid for mild to moderate loss. It uses “VOCCLEAR” AI speech processing with up to 24 dB of noise reduction and feedback cancellation, and two microphones per aid. ELEHEAR also lists:
- Bluetooth 5.3 streaming for calls and music on iPhone and Android
- App-based adjustments of volume, modes and noise control
- 20+ tinnitus-masking sounds
- Real-time translation in the app
- Remote audiologist support
- Up to 20 hours per charge, with a case that holds 4 extra charges
The brand also advertises a 45-day trial and a 1-year warranty on its own site. Amazon’s return terms may differ.
Trade-offs: you need to be comfortable with an app to get the most out of it. Note that ELEHEAR’s own pages use both “FDA-registered” and “FDA-cleared.”
Best for: smartphone users who want streaming, tinnitus features and app control without paying premium-brand prices.

4. Sennheiser All-Day Clear: self-fitting from an audio brand
Sennheiser (made by Sonova) says All-Day Clear is an FDA-cleared self-fitting OTC hearing aid. Instead of a traditional tone test, its app plays real-world conversations, and you pick the volume, clarity and balance that sound best. Sennheiser says this process takes about five minutes and has been shown to be as effective as professional programming. After setup, the aids adapt automatically to your environment with noise reduction and sudden-sound management. They support Bluetooth calls and streaming and have onboard buttons, so you don’t always need your phone.
Trade-offs: the app is required for initial setup. It sits in a premium price tier.
Best for: people who want a personalized fit and a big-brand device, and are fine with a one-time app setup.

5. Jabra Enhance Select M2: premium self-fitting with Auracast

- Support for Bluetooth LE Audio and Auracast broadcast audio
- An IP68 rating, according to independent coverage

Trade-offs: the most expensive pick here, and Auracast is only useful where broadcasts are available.
Best for: tech-comfortable buyers who want the most advanced connectivity and a personalized fit.

How to choose
- Rule out red flags. If any of the FDA warning signs apply, see a doctor first.
- Decide on app vs no app. If you don’t want a smartphone involved, choose an Audien model. If you’re comfortable with an app, self-fitting models can personalize sound much more.
- Think about where you struggle. For quiet one-on-one conversations, a basic aid may be enough. For restaurants and groups, look for noise reduction and directional microphones (ELEHEAR, Sennheiser, Jabra).
- Consider streaming. If you take lots of calls or want TV and music in your ears, choose a Bluetooth model.
- Check returns. It takes time to adapt to hearing aids. Make sure the Amazon return window or manufacturer trial gives you enough of it.
- Read the box. FDA rules require OTC hearing aid packaging to show “OTC” and “hearing aid,” battery information, and whether a phone is needed.

Common questions
Are Amazon hearing aids “real” hearing aids?
Some products sold as hearing aids are actually personal sound amplifiers (PSAPs), which are not hearing aids. Check that the listing and box clearly say “OTC hearing aid.” All five picks here are marketed by their manufacturers as OTC hearing aids.
Do I need a hearing test?
Not legally, for OTC aids. Still, a check is wise. Self-fitting models build a test into their apps. See our online hearing test guide for options.
Will insurance cover these?
Usually not, though some brands accept FSA/HSA. Check with your plan.
Can a hearing aid cure hearing loss?
No. Hearing aids amplify and process sound. Results vary and are not guaranteed.
Bottom line
If budget is the priority, start with the Audien Atom One, or the Atom Pro 2 if you want noise reduction without an app. If you want personalization and streaming, the ELEHEAR Beyond packs in the most features for the money. The Sennheiser All-Day Clear and Jabra Enhance Select M2 are premium, self-fitting options from established hearing brands. Whatever you choose, rule out red flags first and give yourself time to adjust.
